Izone's Location
A central location, easy access to all modes of transportation and Port of Tauranga’s new intermodal freight hub - Metroport Christchurch – means Izone is ideally located for export/import, freight forwarding and manufacturing.
The cost of getting goods and services to customers, and supplies into the company in a timely manner can make or break a company’s operating cost calculations.
Izone is on State Highway One just 12 minutes from Christchurch’s Hornby industrial area; only 20 minutes drive from Christchurch International Airport and 40 minutes from the Port of Lyttelton.
Road
The under-construction Christchurch Southern Motorway will start at Izone and connect resident businesses to the airport and Port Lyttelton via four-laned highways. This, the largest roading project in the South Island, is progressively linking Selwyn to Christchurch City, and its ring road system.
Once the Southern Motorway is completed, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has said that journeys towards the central city or the port, could be 50 per cent faster - and also 40 per cent safer.
Stage one of the four-lane Southern Motorway project opened in 2013, the critical first stage in a long-term process of bypassing the traffic congestion experienced driving through Christchurch's southern suburbs.
The next stage will connect the new motorway to SH1 just south of Templeton, while stage two will see SH1 four-laned from the outskirts of Rolleston and Izone.

The SH1 ring road around Christchurch's western boundary is also progressively becoming a four-laned route to the north.
Rail
Izone is located at the junction of the South Island's two main railway lines (the Main Trunk and Midland Railway Lines) meaning goods are easily transported not only north and south but east and west.
Westland Milk Products has constructed its own rail siding to reduce transportation costs, and the recently released Stage 7 offers more rail opportunities.
Sea
Izone already has easy access to both Christchurch’s Port of Lyttelton and PrimePort Timaru.
Meanwhile Metroport, Port of Tauranga's impressive intermodal freight hub, is operating at Izone. This facility, receives, packs and distributes containerised cargo, giving exporters and importers an important additional port option for their businesses through PoT's association with the PrimePort Timaru.
Air
Izone is only a 15 minutes drive from Christchurch International Airport.
